Synopsis
Radio music programme, inspired by the works of Shakespeare. The Northern Studio Orchestra, directed by John Bridge, plays Edward German’s Overture to ‘Richard III’, various pieces from Quilter’s Suite (As You Like It), O’Neill’s ‘Two Shakespearean Sketches’, pieces from Coleridge-Taylor’s Suite for ‘Othello’ and German’s Incidental music for ‘Romeo and Juliet’. Arthur Wilkes (tenor) sings songs composed by (Love’s Labour Lost and As You Like It), R. J. Stevens (Much Ado About Nothing and The Winter’s Tale), Parry (Cymbeline), Austin (As You Like It), Redgrove Cripps (Twelfth Night) and Quilter (Measure for Measure and Twelfth Night).
