Jesus de Montreal

Alternative title
Jesus of Montreal
Synopsis
Feature film. A group of actors puts on an unorthodox, but acclaimed Passion Play which incites the opposition of the Catholic Church while the actors’ lives begin to mirror the Passion itself. René (Robert Lepage) is an idiosyncratic actor who longs to perform the Hamlet soliloquy ‘to be or not to be’ and insists the soliloquy be included as his condition for taking part in the Passion Play. He speaks, in French, III i 63-81 after the crucifixion and before the resurrection of Jesus.
