Radio broadcast. As part of a series of 26 weekly programmes "designed as an anthology of the best-known and best-loved speeches and scenes" from Shakespeare’s better known plays, two episodes (11 and 12) were transmitted to showcase ‘the best of’ Macbeth. With Flora Robson as Lady Macbeth.

According to the programme notes in London Calling, more than half of the programmes were produced specially for the General Overseas Service, while the rest is taken from ‘classic’ BBC productions of the previous 20 years.
History
The series was transmitted as part of the ‘Shakespeare Quatercentenary’ celebrations of the General Overseas Service.
