According to London Calling, this is Ralph Richardson’s first appearance as Shylock.
General
According to the programme notes in London Calling, more than half of the programmes were produced specially for the General Overseas Service, while the rest is taken from ‘classic’ BBC productions of the previous 20 years. Ten of the plays have been allotted half-hour slots, seven others are broadcast for two half-hours each.
