Midsummer Night’s Dream, A

Synopsis
Two-part production of Shakespeare’s play, with a Caribbean cast, set in Trinidad during carnival time. Aiming to enliven Shakespeare’s play by a different cultural context, director Hilary Norrish associates the court with "Spanish Catholicism - formal and austere" while the fairies and their magic is interpreted as "dark and powerful Shango spellcasting" (London Calling, May 1994, p.44). With George Harris as Oberon and Claire Benedict as Titania. Adapted and directed for radio by Hilary Norrish. No further information known (7/2007).
