Mansfield Park

Synopsis
An adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel by Ken Taylor. In one scene (Chapter 34 in the book) Henry Crawford impresses Fanny Price by his ability to read aloud from Shakespeare. Henry reads from Henry VIII Act III ii, Cardinal Wolsey’s speech beginning ‘Farewell, a long farewell’ /...never to hope again’ [Henry actually says ‘never to rise again’]. In the novel Henry is said to read several unspecified speeches from different characters. At the close of the reading Henry says that ‘Shakespeare one gets acquainted with without one knowing how’.
