Synopsis
Second in a series of radio programmes, broadcast over five consecutive days, devoted to music inspired by Shakespeare’s plays. Peggy Reynolds introduces the following pieces of music:
Haydn’s "She Never Told Her Love", with April Cantelo (soprano), Raymond Leppard (harpsichord); Clifton’s "If Music be the Food of Love" and Addison’s "O Mistress Mine" performed by Anthony Rolfe Johnson (tenor) and Graham Johnson (piano); Henze’s "Sir Andrew Aguecheek" (Royal Winter Music II) is performed by Dietmar Kres; "O Come Away, Death" by Sibelius is played by the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, conductor Jorma Panula with Jorma Hynninnen as baritone; Heise’s "When That I Was and a Little Tiny Boy" with Ignace Strafogel (piano) and Lauritz Melchio (tenor).
