Synopsis
Radio programme. Episode in a series devised by Sarah Dickinson in which she indulges her reporting fantasies. In this episode she talks to Shakespeare just after the first performance of Hamlet. Shakespeare tells her how he became England’s foremost actor-manager, and the first dramatist to hold shares in a theatre, Sarah quizzes him about allegations of youthful delinquency, and uncovers the secret that drives his ambition. There is an extract from a new play and comments by Ben Jonson.
