Synopsis: Talk/interview/public affairs series hosted by William F. Buckley, Jr. A re-broadcast of an interview first transmitted October 5 1980. Journalist, philosopher and theologian Malcolm Muggeridge, in an interview that was taped September 1980, talks of his career and beliefs. At the end of the interview Muggeridge and Buckley discuss suffering and in a lengthy analogy by Muggeridge he uses King Lear to explore the meaning of life.

General: Taped at Muggeridge’s home, Robertsbridge, Sussex, England. The interview was re-broadcast annually at Christmas until Firing Line ended.
History: `Firing Line’ began as an hour-long show for commercial television, syndicated by WOR-TV in New York City where it ran for 240 episodes. An edited version was broadcast 23 December 1988 and it is this transmission which has been acquired by the Paley Center for Media.
