Synopsis
Classic BBC radio comedy show. Episode 7 in series 8 includes a fifteen-minute parody of Henry VIII ("Pruneplay of the Week"). A breakneck smattering of silly voices and dreadful puns is held together by funny songs and the groans and laughs from the audience. The music, performed by Dave Lee & the Boys is arranged by Leon Cohen.

General
The show ran for 8 years and grew out of the Cambridge University undergraduate revue. It showcased the comic talents of Tim Brooke-Taylor, John Cleese, Graeme Garden, David Hatch, Jo Kendall and Bill Oddie. Each episode lasted about 30 minutes and included sketches, songs and a parody of a serial or a story.
History
The show’s pilot episode, a recording of the West End show Cambridge Circus, was transmitted on the BBC Home Service on December 30, 1963. Since December 2002, episodes of the show can be heard on BBC 7, usually on Mondays at 14:30 and Tuesdays at 6:30 hours (London Time).
