- The production was set in the 1930s with an eight-piece Palm Court-style band and singer upstage throughout the performance, establishing a distancing and ironic effect. The Milan court became a country house party and Hilary Cromie sang songs by Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and the Gershwins.
