Synopsis
Programme of Shakespeare’s poetry and John Dowland’s music to celebrate Peggy Ashcroft’s 80th birthday. Includes extracts from Othello, Venus and Adonis, The Phoenix and Turtle and Shakespeare’s Sonnets. The programme is compiled and presented by Peggy Ashcroft and Julian Bream. Bream’s lute solos include Dowland’s Lachrymae, settings of popular ballads and Fancy.
