Synopsis
Radio version of the play with Robert Hardy as Falstaff. Recorded binaurally (in the round), on a specially made metal and wood floor, director Michael Fox’s version of Henry IV, Part1 opens with a scene setting version of Richard II, the play that precedes this, done in 55 seconds.

General
Robert Hardy, who has performed almost every other part in the two works, gives his first Falstaff performance. According to the BBC Radio Press Information, Hardy’s relationship with the part goes back to 1944 when he saw Ralph Richardson play Falstaff - a performance he watched 21 times (BBC Radio Press Information, Week 16, 15-21 April1995, p. 11).
