The production was much acclaimed. The BBC Audience Research Viewing Panel Report noted praise for the camerawork which ‘flowed with vigour and pace’.
General
Michael Gambon, who later played the lead in the famous television series The Singing Detective makes an appearance as Gregory, a member of the Capulet household.
History
The production is one of the first in a series of eight Shakespeare plays produced for BBC by Cedric Messina who was to launch the production of the BBC TV Shakespeare series three years later.
