Synopsis

Television documentary on the life and work of Paul Robeson, narrated by Brewster Mason. The programme focuses on civil rights and racial issues. Earle Hyman talks about the atmosphere in New York when he kissed Desdemona; Ossie Davis talks about his Othello; Alfie Bass speaks of compering a relayed concert when Robeson was not allowed to leave the United States and Andrew Faulds MP recalls seeing Robeson’s Othello in Stratford-upon-Avon.
