Notes
The Birmingham Shakespeare Library holds a television script and a booklet ‘Romeo and Juliet;the Dramatic Theme’ intended as notes for the Autumn Term 1962.

A recording of this was re-discovered in the Library of Congress and returned to the British Film Institute in 2010.
General
A feature article Shakespeare Knew About Teenagers by Sally Kline in TV Times (issue 364, October 19 1962. p9) focuses on Jane Asher who was 16 years old at the time and training to be a hairdresser.
History
Transmitted weekly in 5 parts 23/10-27/11 1962. The play was transmitted as a single episode on New York’s NET affiliate station WNDT on 24 January 1964 as part of the Festival of the Arts series. The 16mm kinescope copy held in the Library of Congress’ PBS collection is from a US television transmission. The copy is incomplete ending with Juliet administering drug from vial (Act IV, sc. iii).
