History
The production was broadcast as part of the quatercentenary celebration of Shakespeare’s birth. It was initially staged at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon, in April 1963, and then at the Aldwych Theatre, London, eight months later . The production was televised in the US by WNET in the NET Playhouse series 13 January 1967.
