Rinse the Blood off My Toga

Synopsis
A shortened version of Canadian comedy duo Wayne and Shuster’s skit on Julius Caesar first broadcast on radio in 1955 and re-worked and first performed on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1958. Wayne plays Roman private detective Flavius Maximus hired to investigate Caesar’s murder. The line ‘I told him,`Julie, don’t go’, spoken several times by Calphurnia, became a catchphrase. The sketch is full of old vaudeville jokes.
