The Wild Duck

Summary
This Associated-Rediffusion production of Ibsen’s The Wild Duck is a ‘filmed play’ for ITV: in other words, it is a 35mm feature film of a theatre production, with the original cast, shot on a sound stage at Shepperton Studios. The actor and producer John Clements staged The Wild Duck, which was directed by Murray Macdonald, at the Saville Theatre at the end of 1955. Clements, who was also working as an adviser on drama for Associated-Rediffusion, transplanted the stage production, with its full cast, to Shepperton and there employed the film director Charles Crichton to shoot a screen version (source: John Wyver’s Screen Plays blog article at http://screenplaystv.wordpress.com/2011/07/19/the-wild-duck-a-rsaville-theatrejohn-clements-for-itv-1957).
