Play synopsis: Italian comedy which tells the story of a wife who feels negelcted by her husband and who invents a relationship with a non-existent suitor in an attempt to win back his love.
Production history: Robin Healey’s Twentieth-century Italian Literature in English Translation (Toronto, 1998), p. 50 notes that there was an Italian production in 1936 and a film version in 1940. Kenneth Horne’s English adaptation was published by English Theatre Guild in 1950.
