- Representatives of all the Allied Governments meet at St James’s Palace when they assemble to pledge themselves in continuing the struggle against oppression until victory is won. The King is present, and Mr Churchill addresses the assembly. Speech begins: "Here before us on this table lie the title deeds of ten nations or states" - and concludes - "Lift up your hearts, all will come right, out of the depths of sorrow and of sacrifice will be born again the glory of mankind."
