Summary
NfO synopsis: Crowds attend the ceremony as the ashes of Thomas Hardy are laid to rest at Westminster Abbey Poets’ Corner, amid the graves of his fellows. Also in attendance: Mr. Stanley Baldwin, Mr. Ramsey MacDonald, Canon Donaldson, and Mr. Bernard Shaw. Plus a commemoration for Charles Dickens at Finchley on the site of Cobley’s Farm where Lady Tree unveils a tablet.
