Summary
BFI synopsis: "THE SECOND ROUND OF THE ENGLISH CUP. THE CUP HOLDERS BEATEN BY BLACKBURN ROVERS BY 3 GOALS TO 2" . LS Barnsley football team running out on to the pitch, the Captain carrying a ball. The stands are crowded with fans, and some police stand at the edge of the pitch. Some advertising hoardings are visible on the stands: ‘AT FAIRCLOUGH’S CLOUGH INN’; ‘MARK OLDHAM’; ‘AFTER THE MATCH CALL AT CROSS KEYS’; and ‘J.LODGE & SONS LTD.' (75). LS Blackburn Rovers football team running out on to the pitch (shot from a different angle to the previous shot), the Captain Bob Crompton is carrying a ball, as he reaches the pitch he drop kicks the ball out of shot. Some different hoardings are now visible: ‘ALFRED BANKS’; ‘STONES’; and ‘GEORGE ROCKER LTD’ (88). LS Barnsley players taking their positions on pitch. Barnsley kicks off. A Barnsley player takes possession of the ball, evades a tackle and proceeds down the pitch (94). LS (low angle) players from both teams leap for the ball as it comes down. A Barnsley player takes possession but is successfully tackled by a Blackburn player who proceeds to shoot at the goal (98). LS Blackburn player headers ball, a Barnsley player goes for the ball as it lands but fumble and falls. A Barnsley player rushes it, takes possession and shoots for the goal. The goalie goes for ball but misses, and the ball goes in the back of the net. The players start to regroup. Behind the goal, the crowds can just be made out applauding and waving rattles (?). The goalie throws the ball out (108). LS players from both teams readying for a Barnsley throw in, The players leap to header ball. The ball is knocked back over the line and a linesman rushes in waving a white handkerchief (?) (113). LS players rushing after the ball (115). LS players waiting, the ball comes through the air, a Barnsley player leaps and headers the ball back out of shot, the players run after it (121). LS players rushing towards the Barnsley goal, a Blackburn player strikes and scores. A hoarding for the ‘Yorkshire Telegraph’ is visible on the stands in the bg (130). LS players readying for a Blackburn penalty. William Bradshaw (Blackburn Rovers) shoots and scores. The Barnsley goalie picks up the ball and kicks it up the field (142).
