Summary
BFI synopsis: An item on the work and procedures at David Colville’s Ravenscraig Steel Works, Motherwell. It opens with general views of the works, and proceeds to shots inside a blast furnace and on open hearth furnace. Babcock boilers are shown in operation at Ravenscraig, and the rolling mill is seen, where steel plates are shaped in a press. The film ends with a Pickford’s van transporting a similar Babcock boiler by road.
