- Summary
- COI synopsis: The birth of a healthy child is somewhat akin to a miracle - so many things could go wrong. This programme looks at the resources offered by the British health service to care for a mother and her unborn child, and shows how the service can help when something does go wrong. Traditionally, nurses wanting to check a young baby’s breathing did so by feeling the slight movements of the abdomen. This can now be done continuously and remotely by a simple monitor, which detects the same movement and can sound a warning if the baby is in any danger.
