Summary
COI synopsis: A surgical operation on the eye - and a very delicate one. The cornea is a transparent disc through which light passes into the eye; damage it and blindness can result. Working with the aid of a microscope, the surgeon removes the damaged cornea, and replaces it with another cornea taken from a donor eye.
