Summary
BFI Summary - Train commuters as seen through the eyes of a carriage cleaner
NFA synopsis: A female carriage cleaner presents a piece on the dirtiness of the British public, and the building of steel coaches is looked at. The item opens with scenes of British rail trains being cleaned, by station cleaners and full cleaning at the depot. The film emphasises how steel coaches makes the work easier, and the construction of steel coaches at York is seen, with an explanation of their advantages. The carpenter’s shop and the fitting of a coach is shown. A cleaner at St Pancras the comments on how dirty the public are.
