Summary
BFI Summary - Structure of oil-bearing rocks and principal methods of prospecting in New Guinea.
BP synopsis: The beginning of the long search which may lead to a new oil field. A film about oil, how it is made (the decomposition and chemical change of fossilised organic material) and how it gets caught in the earth. The geological structure is often in trecherous places (mangrove swamps, Persia etc.). Aerial survey photography, shot in overlapping shots makes a large map. The geologist also collects rocks and then they check for tiny fossils in the rock, or a seismic survey (re-used shots of geologists, photography and surveys). Lastly they start to drill.
