- Summary
- BFI synopsis: The installation of solid-fuel central heating in a large Victorian house in Surrey, and its advantages in large old houses.
NCB Commentary - There are still plenty of big old Victorial houses on the market - ideal for family living if only they could be brought up to modern standards.
Alexis is a luckly little girl, because her parents have decided to take the plunge, and really convert this house from attic to basement.
Of course, the whole place had to be redecorated. But they tore out all the antiquated fittings from bathrooms and kitchens, and decided to bring the whole heating system bang up to date.
The whole job was surprisingly quick. In under 4 months ALexis was able to move into a house she couldn’t recognise from when she first saw it.
Modern solid fuel appliances look after all the heating load - efficiently, unobtrusively and economically.
Alexis, her family - and her pets - are now enjoying the space and comfort of a 19th century house but with all the 20th century advantages of warm, clean modern living. - Keywords
