Summary
NoS synopsis: Coalfields netball tournament
NCB Commentary - London’s Lincolns Inn Fields is a pleasant, shaded square - for resting awhile - or, if you prefer - rushing madly about.
It’s a Saturday and teams of girls are assembling for the inter Coalfields Netball Tournament.
No mere male gets a look in here - unless it’s to stand on the side lines.
A toot on the whistle and they’re off - 7 girls aside; twenty hectic minutes each way.
The teams represent the various coalfield areas of the country. One onlooker doesn’t care where they come from.
And in the final - Oakdale, from South Wales, playing in dark blouses, took the check-shirted Headquarters team to the cleaners - 18-11.
Skipper Jill Thomas accepted the cup - and, of course, the kiss that went with it.
