British Pathe synopsis: China. "Where life is as varied as the itinerant potter’s stock..." Panning shot of lots of pots lined up on the ground beside a man who crouches beside them. "...and their boats and junks..." Various shots of boats on the sea. "Where everything is queer...to western eyes and ears... from the street musicians..." M/S of group of men standing together, one of them plays an unusual musical instrument. Closer shot of him playing the instrument. C/U of performing dog standing on its hind legs using its foot to play a strange instrument. Man stands beside him playing a little cymbal. "...to the quaint buildings perched on the most inaccessible of spots..." L/S through a binocular shaped mask of a cliff-face. Panning shots of some cliffs - a house stands precariously on top of one of the cliffs. "A home like this would keep anyone to the straight and narrow path!" Camera tilts down to show the valley.
