Summary
NoS synopsis: "As with the rest of the world, even the ladies of Madagascar fall under the spell of travelling Artists and Singers." reads the introductory intertitle. Various shots of large crowd of people sitting on the ground enjoying entertainers. C/Us of the performers and M/Ss of the audience. C/U of young boy with a patterned scarf around his head. "The Band may not be up to our standard, but it suffices for the Singers." M/S of the musicians and singers. C/Us of some of the singers. M/S of group of girls who smile and laugh at the camera. "In dancing, too, they favour the wild exotic style, once they get started." The performers begin to dance. C/U of two young boys playing bamboo wind instruments. L/S of the dance routine. C/Us of the boys playing their instruments. Closer shot of the dance which includes hopping movements and wiggling of the hands. "Every important village is visited by these artists, and the vogue has existed for thousands of years." More shots of the performers, singers, musicians and audience. Film ends with a shot of the performers walking down a country road away from the camera.
