Summary
Pathe Intertitles - "Some women have straight hair; others are blessed with natural curls. Why?"
"Scientists have found out the secret. In the laboratory ..."
"The hair expert has a straight hair that he’s going to put between glass plates and then under the microscope."
"What does he see? Under "low power", just the hair, enlarged."
"But under "high power", you can see the six layers that make up the hair, and also the shape of the root."
"When a hair is pulled, a tiny section of scalp tissue comes with it. The micro-drawing shows how the hair "sets" in your scalp."
"Now a curly hair goes under the microscope. In cross-section you can see that the "core" is oval, and not in the centre!"
"A straight hair reveals a round core - not oval."
"Looking at a straight hair, from its root to the pore through which it emerges, you can see that it shoots straight up. It has to, because of the round core!"
"The curly hair, however, with its oval core, comes to the top of the scalp in a curve. And that’s why, as it grows, it is "naturally curly!""
"Lucky girls whose hair-roots have oval cores, and sprout out - in a curve!"
