- Summary
- COI synopsis: Scenery flies onto stage with the aid of a computer. Spotlights focus, fade and change colour by remote control. At London’s National Theatre computers have taken over, art and science have combined to create an almost automatic push button theatre complex. Everything moves except the audience, but at another London theatre an experimental production has actually managed to glide the audience around on a cushion of air. Australian reporter Vicki Luke explores the exciting world of the Theatre of Technology.
- Researcher Comments
- Includes interviews with Richard Brett, chief designer of the National Theatre’s computerised scenery control system and with Ken Campbell director of the Science Fiction Theatre of Liverpool’s production of ‘Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy’ at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London.
