Summary
COI synopsis: As tugs and pilot bring a foreign cargo boat up the Manchester Ship Canal to the Port of Manchester, thirty-six miles inland, the special features of this great artificial waterway are revealed - locks with an 80-foot lift, a road-bridge with the biggest span in Europe, a swinging "water-bridge" carrying a smaller canal over the main one, and one of Britain’s largest oil docks.
