Summary
COI synopsis: Engineers and technologists are highly specialised people the world over. There has been a tendency for them to stick to their specialities and to leave to others the economic planning and management of industries. Yet it is essential that both sides of industry, its technology and its management, work smoothly together, particularly as industry develops in the advancing countries. An answer lies in "total technology" in which the engineer himself studies the economics and management of his own technology. Such a course is now available at a British university where London Line visited African technologists who will be the new managers of the future.
