- Summary
- COI synopsis: To celebrate the centenary of Stanley Gibbons, the world’s largest stamp dealers, a great exhibition of valuable stamps was recently held at the Royal festival Hall in London. Stamps were sent by collectors in many countries. Among them was the world’s rarest stamp - the One Cent from British Guiana - the world’s first stamp - a famous British Penny Black - which is now worth one hundred and fifty pounds sterling. To commemorate this event, the Post Office issued special souvenir envelopes marked with the centenary post mark.
