Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Grasmere Sports. DESCRIPTION: A unique sporting occasion takes place at Grasmere in the beautiful Lake District annually. The Fell Running Races are tests of endurance for the Competitors. Another popular event is the Hound Trailing, the dogs follow a trail of aniseed across the fells and back to the Main Arena. SHOTLIST: GV Grasmere sports ground. GV people milling about ground. GV parked cars. SV picnic laid out on bonnet of car. SV people eating. FV start of junior guides race pan to BV of boys running up course. FV dogs lined up for start of puppy race. SV pan man spreading aniseed trail. FV start of puppy race. GV dogs running up over road toward hill. CU little dog watching. FV dogs coming through hole in wall. SV lady looking, through binoculars. LV pan No 9 G Moffatt coming into win the junior guides race, he collapses. CU man holding stop watch (record time). SV Moffatt being sponged down. CU G Moffatt. SV two men in Cumberland wrestling match, one throws the other. GV start of senior guides race. SV pan runners past up toward hill. SV spectator. LV runners running up hill. CU No 1 the leader jumping gate pan to BV. SV following runners jumping gate. FV pan No 1 FL Reeves coming in to win, clips 7 seconds off old record. CU FL Reeves. CU aniseed trail being walked toward finish. CU pan leading dog. SV pan ditto followed by another. SV dogs jumping over wall. LV pan dogs running for home into master’s hands. CU dog eating from bowl. CU winning dog with owner Rose & Crown.
