Summary

MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Viareggio Carnival. DESCRIPTION: The gay and colourful Carnival where the rivalry between the float builders means the floats are bigger and better every year. SHOTLIST: GV King Carnival walking out to sea in aqua gear with others. GV crowd. CU King. GV crowds round float depicting Henry Kissinger as a puppet master. SV pan down ditto. CU two puppets on float swaying. CU face of puppet master. GV giant ant float playing guitar. CU ditto pan down to smaller ants scurrying round and working. CU face of giant ant-like model. SV pan model of Arab Sheikh being carried by man inside. GV pan up to giant shark-type float in top hat. CU face of shark. CU pan small models on float of sharks & men. CU face of shark pan to revolving star with a shark on each point. FV model of man riding horse. SV people on float throwing confetti. GV float throwing confetti. GV float like a gallon [sic] (galleon?) with lots of models of people, FV pan along models ditto. GV float which has models of men on horse spinning on top and money pouring out of mouths of model faces as its main bulk. CU men on horses spinning round its top. GV Arab Sheikh holding oil can in his hand with his harem about him float. CU Sheikh and oil can pan down to harem women. GV monster holding two people, labelled inflation. FV grinning monster. GV owl float, big owl. GV owl eyes blink, beak opens. FV ‘Libecciata’ blond mascot of folklore, band group Libecciata walk out of screen, pan to girl band lead by marching girls. SV float lady with bouncing bosom and bottom.
