- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Queen Mother Unveils Pouihi. DESCRIPTION: At New Zealand House, the Queen Mother unveiled a ‘pouihi’ or Maori totem pole. Placed in the centre of the foyer, it rises some four floors, through the centre of the building. It was carved by Inia te Wiata, one of the world’s greatest singers, who has since died. The tall carving tells of the Great Maori tribes long ago before the coming of the Pakeha or White man. SHOTLIST: Angle shot pan down NZ house.
