Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Submarine Surgery. DESCRIPTION: A steel walled submarine is being used for medical surgery. The submarine is a giant pressure chamber at the Western Infirmary in Glasgow. Surgery can be carried out at three times atmospheric pressure. The point of operating under pressure is that, up to 12 times the normal amount of oxygen is forced into the blood. This gives the body an oxygen reserve. SHOTLIST: LS outside shot of pressure chamber. MS pan surgeon enters operating theatre inside pressure chamber. MS inside operating theatre.
