Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Badminton - Olympic Preview. DESCRIPTION: Badminton, the Gloucestershire seat of the Duke of Beaufort, is the house which gave its name to a game, but which, for 3 days in the Spring, means horses and horsemanship. This year, the Three Day Event had great significance for the Olympics later this year: the selectors made their short list for the team to represent Britain in Tokyo. After the Dressage on the first day came the Speed and Endurance Test, followed then by the Show Jumping. The winner was Captain JR Templer on his magnificent bay gelding, M’Lord Connolly, who received his trophies from the Queen Mother. SHOTLIST: Key scene. LS Badminton House. GV same.
