Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: From the Archives - Thirty Years Ago. DESCRIPTION: With film selected from our news library, one of the most comprehensive in the world, we invite you to look back to January, 1933. Two teams in the 4th round of the Cup were Spurs and Luton, with Luton the winners. In Germany, leading film star of the thirties, British-born Lilian Harvey was leaving for Hollywood. She left behind a Germany where the seeds of Hitler’s deadly harvest had already taken root. He became Chancellor in January, 1933. Meanwhile, in Italy, Mussolini’s sons, Vittorio and Bruno, 15 and 16 years old, were successfully editing their own boys paper. War, of a sort, was already being waged in China. These pictures of the training of Chiang Kai-Shek’s troops followed widespread bandit trouble. 4 years later, this training was to be tested in war against Japan. SHOTLIST: Key scene.
