Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Jet Birthplace. DESCRIPTION: The Royal Air Force College at Cranwell. It was here, 35 years ago, that a young cadet wrote a thesis that was to start a revolution in flying. That cadet is now Air Commodore Sir Frank Whittle, and he recently returned to open a new building: 33 lecture rooms and 18 laboratories to help Cranwell maintain its leadership in training young men for the jet age. Every inventor faces trials and tribulations. A flashback reminds us that Sir Frank and his team accepted danger, too, during those early experimental test runs over 20 years ago.
