Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Gurkhas at the Palace. DESCRIPTION: The Gurkhas were on parade at Buckingham Palace, and for Her Majesty, it was the first time she’d reviewed the regiment since it was honoured with its new title, Queen Elizabeth’s Own Gurkha Rifles in 1959. After the inspection, the Queen presented the regiment with two pipe banners. Two famous soldiers were present, Field Marshal Sir William Slim and Lord Harding. Most of the Gurkhas on parade come from the First Battalion, now permanently stationed on Salisbury Plain. SHOTLIST: Key scene. GV Gurkhas on parade. CU man. CU medals. CU man. MS the Queen.
