DESCRIPTION: Dramatic news from the cathedral city of Chichester, Britain’s newest theatre, the Chichester Festival Theatre, as it’s called, is to have Sir Laurence Olivier as its director. Final stages of construction were going on outside, as well as inside, but Sir Laurence was good enough to say a word for us on the spot. The first season is due to open early in July with the 17th century play The Chances by John Fletcher, and the company of 40 under Sir Laurence’s direction includes many names already famous in the British theatre.
