Summary

MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: From Rome to Venice. DESCRIPTION: While in Rome, Her Majesty and Prince Philip had a private audience with the Pope. Afterwards, a film record of the occasion was permitted in the Throne Room. From Rome to Venice. The royal yacht’s arrival brought out Venetian craft of all kinds, and replicas of the bissone, a super-gondola once used by the Doges, were out on the water, as the visitors came ashore. Sight-seeing for the Queen included the Doges’ Palace, not to mention St Mark’s Square, which itself was packed with people wanting to see the Queen. Her Majesty walked through the arcades that line the square, and presently went for a trip on the canals. SHOTLIST: Key scene. LS Queen dressed in black lace (emblem of the garter).
