Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Duke Goes Back to Sea. DESCRIPTION: Captain-General of the Royal Marines is one of the Service ranks held by Prince Philip. And it’s as Captain-General that we see him now during his stay at Malta. Various Naval exercises were being held, and His Royal Highness paid visits to many warships. For example, he boarded the Frigate HMS Eastbourne, and presently, when HMS Walkerton steamed alongside, he went aboard her, transferring by jackstay. He was on board during the exercise by ships of 108 Minesweeping Squadron. During his visit to HMS Bulwark, Britain’s first Commando Carrier, the Prince joined the Petty Officers in a glass of ale. Bulwark was taking part in a special exercise, the assault on a Malta beach. Royal Marines in Number 42 Commando embarking in helicopters, were part of a force of about a thousand men engaged in the assault. SHOTLIST: MS Prince Philip. MS same meets officers.
