- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: South African Disaster. DESCRIPTION: At the pit-head of the Coalbrook Colliery in South Africa, relatives waited for news of 440 men trapped down below, of whom six are white. A white rescue team went down in a vain attempt to break through a mile of rubble. An African team followed. Later, their attempts at rescue became impossible, owing to a second fall of rock, 500 feet underground. Since then, a high-speed diamond-drill has been brought into action. It was the last hope of getting help through to the miners. SHOTLIST: GV crowd. Pan - anxious relatives. MS rescue workers. GV crowd. MS rescue workers. MS same. BS cable car gantry.
