- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: White Wedding. DESCRIPTION: This was Romsey on the day of the wedding: Winter had come to Hampshire. But in spite of the snow, the people of Romsey wanted to see everybody and everything! Seen arriving was Kenneth More, one of the many guests. Then, the arrival of the Royal Family at the station. It was an exciting event for the Prince of Wales and Princess Anne who was to be a bridesmaid for the first time. Next, the arrival at Romsey Abbey: the bridegroom, Mr David Hicks, came with Lord Brabourne, his best man, and the bride, Lady Pamela Mountbatten, with her father, Earl Mountbatten of Burma. After the marriage service, Broadlands, the Mountbatten home, was the scene of the first reception. There had to be two, so many people wanted to wish the happy pair good luck!
